Branding for
those who care

Darcy's Dog Days is a Coombs-area service that rescues, cares and rehabilitates dogs and other furry critters.

The Darcy's Dog Days Story

Darcy's dog Diego was to be the centre of the logo from the get-go — he's the mascot of the company and one main recipient of Darcy's affection. We settled on a more realistic look as opposed to an abstract representation of the dog.

Business Cards

The business cards are an extension of the brand: clear, compassionate and straight to the point.

Concepts

The main requirement was for the logo to have an illustration of Darcy's dog Diego. At first I took a more simplistic approach, but then moved towards a realistic representation of Diego.

Colour and Typography

The main copy uses Brandon Grotesque, an excellent complement to handwritten fonts like Bellagio. A cursive font felt necessary since Diego's illustration is organic rather than structured, giving the brand a more personal feel. We tried blue and green options for Coombs' gateway-to-the-Pacific locality, but landed on orange and amber — colours that complement Diego's caring, compassionate eyes.

T-Shirt Design

One major aspect of the business is dog walking, which is why it's important to see this brand on clothing while Darcy and her team are on the job. The logo sits on the front chest with the name visible to anyone walking by, while Diego's striking face on the back is visible from a distance.
